Creating New Bones

The Bone tool allows you to create new bones.

  1. Select the Bone tool from the Editing Tools palette.
  2. Position your cursor where you wish to locate the new bone's origin.
  3. Click and drag to your desired bone endpoint. Don't worry about being perfectly accurate at this point; you can make fine adjustments later.

New bones are created as children of the most recently created or selected bone. You can add children bones to a previous bone by single-clicking the desired parent bone to select it before creating the new bone.

You can reposition bone and/or edit their origins and endpoints by either selecting other Editing tools (Translate, Rotate, Scale, etc.) or by using the Joint Editor palette to obtain additional control (refer to Positioning each joint).

You will probably need to adjust the bones from multiple camera angles in order to position them correctly:
