Using images to create heads 1 - Tools:
To create custom 3D heads from existing images/photographs:
- The front image should be straight-on level front view close enough to capture plenty of detail with lighting adjusted so as to capture the most detail. The person’s mouth should be closed with a neutral expression. The side image should be a direct level side view with the subject facing 90 degrees from the camera. The Face room supports most common image formats.
- Click the Load icon for the front or side image in the Photo Lineup area and locate your desired image. Poser will ask you to locate several points on the face to help alignment. The side image uses the subject’s right side. If your image is reversed, click the Flip icon to reverse the image. Once loaded, you may need to manually adjust the geometry’s location relative to the image using the following tools:
- Load: Clicking the Load icon allows you to select your desired image. You will be prompted to locate various facial features.
- Delete: Clicking the Delete icon deletes the currently loaded image.
- Zoom: Clicking and dragging the Zoom icon allows you to zoom in or out of the current image, allowing you to more precisely position and shape the head geometry.
- Pan: Clicking and dragging the Pan tool moves the image in the same direction as your mouse movement.
- Rotate Geometry: Clicking and dragging the Rotate Geometry tool rotates the geometry to align it to the image. In the front image view, pressing [OPT]/[ALT] while dragging this tool rotates the geometry left-right (along its Y axis).
- Scale Geometry: Clicking and dragging the Scale Geometry tool scales the geometry to align it to the image.
- Pan Geometry: Clicking and dragging the Pan Geometry tool pans the geometry.
- You will see the red outlines of a head superimposed on your loaded images. Each major facial feature (eyes, nose, mouth, chin, etc.) has one or more control points, which appear as green dots. Move the control points until they match the underlying image by placing the mouse pointer over the control point you wish to move. The cursor will change, allowing you to drag the selected control point up, down, left, or right. You can also move the entire head using the geometry tools described above.
- The texture map is created on the fly as you work. If the Apply Shape checkbox is enabled, the geometry is also generated (on the fly). The current result will appear in the Face Shaping Tool window.
