------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WAKALABIS - SEGA Master System / Gamegear Emulator (c) 2003 by Adriano Bedeschi & Eduardo Hisashi Sato ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - INTRODUCTION: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wakalabis is a Windows 9X/2000/XP based emulator for the SEGA MasterSystem / SEGA GameGear(*) systems. It allows you to play games originally written for this systems on your PC. This emulator was written with the intent of learning SEGA 8-bit console's architecture and for fun. Performance and speed were sacrificed in favor of accuracy, and as a result Wakalabis' first release comes with a fairly high compatibility rate. (*) We suppose anyone reading this file knows what a Sega Master System and/or Sega Gamegear is, so We'll not explain what they are. 2 - DISCLAIMER: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wakalabis © 2003 Adriano Bedeschi - Eduardo Hisashi Sato Wakalabis is Freeware and may be freely distributed under the following conditions: 1 - This file (wakalabis.txt) must be included with it. 2 - Alterations in the code must NOT be made. 3 - No comercial copyrighted games (a.k.a. ROM's) should be included with it. You can't use this program to gain profit. This includes using it for commercial projects, selling it, putting it onto CDROMs, etc. If you want to use this emulator for a commercial project, please, contact the authors to negotiate the terms. Use this emulator on your own risk. The authors should not be held responsible for any damage it may cause on your computer, life or whatever. 3 - SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As mentioned above, Wakalabis was not written to be fast and the minimum requirements are not known yet. Well, it does run on the authors' machines (Athlon XP 2100+, 768MB RAM, 80GB HDD). Just kidding... This is only the first release and there is still much room for optimization (**) To start off you'll need a PC with Windows 9X/Me/2000/NT/XP and DirectX 7 or later. The slowest machine we've tested the emulator on so far was a Pentium 3 500MHz with 128 MB of RAM. But it may run on slower machines. We need your help to figure this out. Reports can be sent to our email and are appreciated. (**) Optimzations can be made, which does not mean we WILL make them. It depends on user pressure and the authors' will. Note: Your video display must be set to 32bpp (likely already set) 4 - DEFAULT KEYBOARD SETTINGS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The default controller settings are: Player1 Player2 UP Up U Down Down J Left Left H Right Right K 1 Z A 2 X S Pause P Reset TAB GG Start RETURN We know this config is awkward if you wish to play 2-player games. But you can change it at any time on the controllers Dialog. 5 - FEATURES AND USAGE: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the features can be reached from the menus. They are self-explanatory. We promise to write more detailed instructions on the usage soon. User's settings selected on the menus are saved on a file named "wakalabis.cfg". When everything seems wrong (garbage sound, wrong colors) delete it and restart the emulator. The settings will be then set to their default values. Note: You can switch to fullscreen by pressing ALT + ENTER, or via menu. 6 - THE AUTHORS THANK: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - All the people from SMS Power forum - Charles McDonald for writing the best SMS docs there are and for his demos. - Maxim for answering silly questions, for his doc on the PSG, for his demos, for his useful webpage, for his software etc. - Bock for his demos, docs and for creating SMS Power. - Heliophobe for his very useful demos. - Rene Dare for helping with BIOS usage. - Eric Quinn explaining some Z80 instructions. - André LaMothe for writing terrific books. - Chris White for writing his emulator JavaGear, which helped sometimes. - Paloma, Eduardo´s girlfriend, for loving and supporting him. 8 - TODO (in order of priority): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Support for PC gamepads - New blitters (50% scanlines, TV Mode) - Save battery-backed RAM. - Support for RED/BLUE 3D Glasses - Save game replays (demos). - Support unusual screen modes (F16, Codemasters games). - Support Codemaster mappers. - Support SG-1000 SGC-3000 games. - Netplay 7 - Contacting Wakalabis Team ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://members.lycos.co.uk/wakalabis/ email: wakalabisteam@yahoo.com.br ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA WAKA O Brasil é Penta !
