Chapter1.
Booting PS2 DVD Games.
There
are different ways to BOOT a DVD game on the PS2 using
MEMENTO Firmware.
BOOTING
ORIGINAL
PS2 GAMES.
Just
insert the game into the PS2 and start it normally.
Memento
will not take any action, and the MEMOR32 will behave as a
normal Memory Card.
BOOTING
BACK-UP
DVD-R OF ORIGINAL OR IMPORT GAMES (MEMENTO
DISK).
If
you have already burned some game ISO images in the
correct "Memento Disk" format (see SECTION 4.3),
you can simply place them into the PS2 and they will
direct boot .
Memento
will launch the game and than SHUT OFF to avoid any
inteference issue with the game.
ORIGINAL
IMPORT GAMES.
Right
now (Firmware V1.2e) you can boot ORIGINAL import
games by using the SWAP feature present into the
Memento Firmware.
Place
an Original into the PS2, and
We
are working on a solution to solve also this issue and
allow direct boot of Original Import Games without the
need of doing the SWAP.

Booting of PS2 CD Games.
BOOTING
ORIGINAL
PS2 CD GAMES.
Just
insert the game into the PS2 and start it normally.
Memento
will not take any action, and the MEMOR32 will behave as a
normal Memory Card.
BOOTING
BACK-UP OF ORIGINAL OR IMPORT PS2 CD GAMES (MEMENTO
DISK).
Ps2
games on CD must be burned on VD-R in order to make them
boot with memento.
Simply
exctract hte ISO of the game and burn it in the "Memento Disk" format (see SECTION
4.3). Once this is done, simply place them into the PS2 and they will
direct boot .
Memento
will launch the game and than SHUT OFF to avoid any
inteference issue with the game.
Chapter3.
Booting
Games from HDD or USB HDD.
BOOTING
FOR EXISTING USERS OF PS2 HDD OR USB HDD.
If
you are already using an HDD or USB HDD in your PS2 with
other type of softwares (like USB Extreme or HDD LOADER),
you do not need to do any special
action.
Simply
launch the MEMENTO MENU (pressing
START on PAD1 at boot of PS2) and select the USB or
HDD USB option from the Menu' to get a list of games
present in the HDD.
If
you prefer to use your existing Software instead of using
the MEMENTO MENU, you can assign the software you
like to a DEVolution mode and launch it directly at boot
of PS2.
BOOTING
FROM NEW HDD INSTALLLATION
If you never used before an HDD or an USB HDD into your
PS2, you should refer to
Section4
- Chapter3 of this manual,
to learn how to Install, Format and Transfer the ISO files
of your PS2 games from the PC to the HDD/USB HDD.
If
you are familiar with this process we suggest you anyhow
to use WinHIIP software, it has all the featurest you need
and it will make the whole process very easy and quick.
- Chapter4.
Booting
Homebrew Applications.
To
Boot Homebrew applications you can simply launch them
using one of the several DEVolution modes available on the
MEMENTO Firmware.
MEMENTO
is compatible with all the PS2 Homebrew Applications
(Emulators, DVD movie Players, MP3 Players, and so on)
that have been developed in these years.
- Chapter5.
Using DEVolution1/2/3 MODE.
MEMENTO
gives you the possibility to launch Homebrew applications
in 3 different ways, from MEMOR32 Memory Card, from a USB
Memory Stick, and from the HDD.
To
launch the application, the same must be RENAMED as
"BOOT.ELF" (or one of the three other available
names) and saved saved in a "BOOT directory" in
the location from where you want to launch it.
DEV1
Is
used to launch applications from Memor32 Memory Card.
To
learn how to save the application files on the MEMOR32
memory card please see
Section4 -
Chapter7.
The
correspondent DEVolution mode is invoked by pressing
the R1/R2/L1/L2 pad buttons on PAD1 at the boot of the
PS2:
R1 : /BOOT/BOOT.ELF
R2 : /BOOT/BOOT2.ELF
L1 : /BOOT/BOOT3.ELF
L2 : /BOOT/BOOT4.ELF
DEV2
Is
used to launch applications from PS2 HDD.
Create
a "BOOT" Folder on the HDD and save inside the
renamed application you would like to launch.
The
correspondent DEVolution mode is invoked from the
PAD1 by pressing "PAD UP" PLUS the R1/R2/L1/L2 pad buttons
at the boot of the PS2:

UP + R1 : /BOOT/BOOT.ELF
PAD UP + R2 : /BOOT/BOOT2.ELF
PAD UP + L1 : /BOOT/BOOT3.ELF
PAD UP + L2 : /BOOT/BOOT4.ELF
DEV3
Is
used to launch applications from standard USB memory
Stick.
Create
a "BOOT" Folder on the USB Memory Stick
and save inside the renamed application you would like to
launch and use the following button combination ad PS2
boot:
The
correspondent DEVolution mode is invoked from the
PAD1 by pressing "PAD UP" PLUS the R1/R2/L1/L2 pad buttons
at the boot of the PS2:
PAD
DOWN + R1 : /BOOT/BOOT.ELF
PAD DOWN + R2 : /BOOT/BOOT2.ELF
PAD DOWN + L1 : /BOOT/BOOT3.ELF
PAD DOWN + L2 : /BOOT/BOOT4.ELF
As
a total you can launch 4 applications from Memor32 memory card,
4 from a standard USB memory Stick, and 4 from HDD.
This
should be more than enough for any user, but in case we
have requests to add more we can do it in the future
If no buttons are pressed on the joypad, memento behaves as normal (direct booting of game disc if present or ps2 browser).
